About The Event

Prana is energy and Yama means to control.  Prana is vital to our existence, our health and wellbeing depend on a healthy consistent flow of prana.  When the flow is stagnant, blocked or deficient in some way our systems will not operate efficiently and dis-ease will occur eventually.

Pranayama is the vedic form of breathwork used by yogis and in Ayurvedic medicine for well over 5000 years.  Pranayama means to control one's prana.  There are numerous practices and techniques which help you to understand and gain mastery over the breath.  This level 1 class will introduce 5 main pranayama techniques.  The daily practice of these techniques will help you to open subtle channels, clear and improve the flow of prana in those channels, and allow your organs and systems in your body to operate at their optimal capacities.  A consistent practice will give life lasting, measurable results.

Some of the many imbalances helped with pranayama are insomnia, anxiety, high blood pressure, scattered mind, circulation issues, sinus problems, digestive complaints, constipation, headaches, muscle spasms, just about anything can be helped with the correct practice.  An example of some frequently experienced after effects are: a feeling of tranquility, deep sleep, a state of calmness and of being non reactionary, focused mind, sharper recall, deeper breathing, a sense of groundedness, improved circulation and better digestion and elimination.
